Enjoy A Fantastic Quality Of Life In North-West Kent

From local leisure facilities to weekend getaways, you couldn’t possibly be bored if you decide to move to Gravesend!

Gravesend is a historic town in north-west Kent that rests on the south bank of the River Thames. Its enviable riverside location attracts residents who are looking for interesting activities to enjoy, whilst living in a fantastic commuter spot with excellent connections into the capital for work. Here are some of the many things you can do if you live or visit the Gravesend area!

Take The Eurostar

With Ebbsfleet International situated nearby, Gravesend residents can make use of the location of this Eurostar station for a quick weekend getaway to Europe. Whether you plan to travel to Paris, Bruges, Lille or beyond, you can either take an early train and return the same day, or else stay overnight and make the most of the weekend. 57 Eurostar trains depart from Ebbsfleet International to head towards the continent every week, so there are plenty of options for you to choose from!

Go Shopping

Gravesend is expected to receive £15 million in regeneration costs with plans for it to be invested in the town’s leisure and retail facilities, in particular in the St George’s Shopping Centre, as well as the Eastern and Western Quarters. Shoppers can also head to the world-famous shopping destination at Bluewater for far more than just a wander round the stores. You can also choose from more than 50 different eateries, go to the cinema, karting, bowling or even ice skating. If you’re bringing the family with you, then you can enjoy a trip to Dinotropolis, a game of minigolf or a walk around the Hungry Caterpillar nature trail. You’ll never want to leave!

Enjoy The Fresh Air

Gravesend is home to Cyclo Park, which is the place to be if you want to show off your cycling talents and enhance your fitness abilities. If you’d prefer to enjoy a more scenic ride, then you can work your way down the National Cycle Route which runs through the town, meandering across plenty of pretty open spaces. Horse riding and beautiful walks can also be enjoyed in places such as Shorne Woods Country Park or Cobham and Ashenbank Woods which is made up of ancient woodland.

Take A River Cruise

Of course, one of the main selling points of living in Gravesend is its proximity to the river and the maritime heritage that goes along with it. One of the best ways to learn about the history of Gravesend as an important waterside town is to take a river cruise. There are different options available depending on the time of year, with half day sailing trips on the Thames running from April to July, and different day and evening cruises available until October.
