My mum enquired multiple times about a property being marketed by Balgores in Chelmsford and repeatedly tried to arrange a viewing. On several occasions, we were told that the property had already been sold and that viewings were no longer available.

However, despite being told this, the property continued to appear on major property websites for weeks afterwards. More recently, we even received an automated email notification advising that the asking price had been reduced from £450,000 to £425,000, which suggests the property remained on the market the entire time.

This has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Had we been told that an offer had been accepted or that the property was still available but subject to negotiations, we would have understood. Instead, we were repeatedly informed that it had been sold, which appears inconsistent with the fact that it remained advertised and has since had a price reduction.

My mother was a genuine buyer with the financial means to proceed and made multiple enquiries, yet she was never given a fair opportunity to view the property. The lack of clear and accurate communication left us feeling dismissed and undervalued as prospective purchasers.

Based on our experience, customer service and communication fell well below the standard we would expect from a professional estate agent.

Luke was patient with us when viewing. We did not feel rushed. He answered my questions to satisfaction.

Awful service with very aggressive sales /Buying techniques. We tried selling through Balgores and received nothing but poor service which ended with a lost buyer due to the awful service. Lied is a strong word but the sales person tried to overstep their position to make the deal happen without speaking to the sellers first. They are now trying to claim their fees even though we lost our buyers. Absolutely disgraceful customer service. They don’t appear to follow any guidelines in relation to estate agents and the Ombudsman policies with regard to double fees. Please be very careful when selling houses through this company. They say and offer a lot but then don’t back it up. I would never deal with this company ever again even if they provided their so called services for free. When you make a complaint it goes to one person within their own company who really doesn’t appear to care about the facts. They just threaten you with their legal department. This is very intimidating, especially when you can clearly see it’s their mistake. They don’t appear to care about their reputation. Just cash. You have been warned.

For the unfamiliar the conveyancing process is quite daunting and unpredictable. Richard and his team helped smooth this out for us with their support, efficiency and proactive communication – a masterclass in customer service.

Buying our house was a very smooth process from the time we viewed the house until we completed the purchase. We were informed of all stages along the way. Thank you Balgores special mention to Ellie and Allannah!

Balgores was the second agent we engaged after a rocky start with another agent. They were unstoppable in finding the right buyer for us, as we were in a complex new-build onward chain meaning there’d be a wait for our house which resulted in multiple offers but conflicting timing expectations. We were so impressed with their attention to detail (I think maybe they knew our house better than we did by the time we sold!). We were so impressed how Balgores went through this (what felt to us at times as painful!) journey with us with patience and perseverance needed for a complex sale. We achieved the amount we wanted so I would highly recommend speaking with Balgores if you’ve had low-ball valuations from other agents in Chelmsford more concerned with their own targets & a quick sale! Our next door neighbour is considering selling so of course we had no hesitation recommending Balgores to them too. Thank you!

Absolutely clueless from start to finish.

I viewed a property and had my offer accepted. After paying £300 for a survey, it turned out the property was a non-standard construction house, which was not mentioned anywhere on the original listing.

When I raised this with them, they denied that it was non-standard and refused to reimburse me for the survey cost. I decided not to proceed with the purchase because of this.

Then, after the property remained unsold for around six months, they finally added a note to the listing stating that it was non-standard construction.

A complete waste of time and money.
